HNY! Seven Agile things to get excited about for 2023

Kia ora from sunny Aotearoa!

Happy New Year team, we made to 2023! Here are 7 things I’m excited about in the world of Business Agility for the year ahead:

  1. Continued evolution of agile frameworks: Agile frameworks, such as Scrum and Kanban, will continue to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of organizations. This means that there will be new tools and techniques available to help teams work more efficiently and effectively.

  2. Increased focus on agility at the enterprise level: As more organizations adopt agile principles, there will be a greater emphasis on implementing agile at the enterprise level. This will involve not just individual teams, but entire departments and even the organization as a whole.

  3. Greater integration of agile with other methodologies: Agile principles can be applied to a wide range of areas, including project management, product development, and even marketing and sales. As a result, we can expect to see greater integration of agile with other methodologies, such as Design Thinking and Lean Startup.

  4. More emphasis on agility in remote work: The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the trend towards remote work, and agile principles are well-suited to this type of environment. Expect to see more teams and organizations embracing agile practices to facilitate collaboration and communication in a distributed setting.

  5. Increased use of agile in non-software development contexts: Agile has traditionally been used in software development, but it can be applied to a wide range of industries and contexts. Expect to see more organizations adopting agile principles in areas such as manufacturing, healthcare, and education.

  6. Greater use of agile metrics: Agile teams rely on metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement. In 2023, we can expect to see more organizations using agile metrics to measure the effectiveness of their agile practices and make data-driven decisions.

  7. Continued growth of agile communities: The agile community is a vibrant and supportive network of practitioners who share their experiences and insights. Expect to see continued growth and engagement in agile communities, with more opportunities for learning and networking.

Overall, the future looks bright for Agile in 2023. Which of these resonate with you? Have you got any to add to the list? Feel free to share in the comments.
